THE CORINTHIANS were confused about the body. Could it really be raised from the dead? Although they did not deny the resurrection of Jesus, they still doubted that the bodies of believers would be raised.
This skepticism was not their only confusion about the body. They were also unclear about the importance of sexuality. Some believed that what a person did with one's body did not matter as long as one was a "spiritual" person, as long as one had been saved. Others refrained from sexual relations with their spouses in the interest of spiritual purity.
