Did you get a lunch?
my husband asked,
as I was about
to run out the door.
Oh no, I said, went back
and grabbed some cheese, threw
it between 2 pieces of bread.
Tossed it in a sack.
Wait, he said, I saved you
a piece of cake.
Half of that, I said.
I watched him cut the cake in half.
I hoped he would like the other half.
I watched him tear
a piece of wax paper, wrap
