Jun. 22--ALBANY -- Gripping the banister of the staircase, Diana Bach tentatively placed the prosthetic leg on a lower step.
Nate Walker prodded her to throw her hip and weight onto the leg and step down but Bach hesitated.
"I'm just so afraid (the leg) is going to go whoosh, and I'll go flying," Bach said. "It's like jumping without a parachute."
"Come on sky diver. Let's go," said Walker, who has worn a prosthetic limb since his leg was amputated because of cancer six years ago.
