Jun. 23--NORFOLK
On Friday, three dozen Louisiana artists looked happy to be at Town Point Park for opening day at the Bayou Boogaloo & Cajun Food Festival. Festevents, organizers of the event, bus ed most of them here from New Orleans and is feeding, lodging and feting them.
"We're not used to being the front-door attraction," artist Joanna Ballard said. "Everybody's giving us the red-carpet treatment."
While New Orleans' musicians have received much aid, no other city has been so generous to the visual artists, several of them said.
Through Sunday, the artists will be clustered near Nauticus in tents ...
