Jun. 26--A judge will decide this week whether Assemblyman Guy Houston, R-San Ramon, helped his father defraud senior citizens out of $340,000 in investments.
If an Alameda Superior Court judge grants a motion filed by Houston's lawyer, a case that has dogged the assemblyman for nearly three years will end.
It would also lift a cloud over Houston's prospects as a viable Republican primary challenger in congressional District 11. He is looking at entering the race but the lawsuit worries GOP donors who want no whiff of the "culture of corruption" allegations that helped defeat Republicans nationwide in November.
