Jun. 26--Kokomo Police Chief Gary McKay contends the city will fall further behind in the war on illicit drugs unless Kokomo Common Council backs funding for at least two additional police officers.
And Kokomo Fire Chief Dave Duncan wants more firefighters to cover the additional eight square miles the city's added since the KFD last added manpower.
And given the choice between performing forensic investigations here or shipping the work off to the Indiana State Police crime lab, police officials think adding $100,000 of new crime lab equipment locally would help the department close cases quicker.
