The Twins failed to begin another series on a winning note on Monday during their 8-5 loss to Toronto.
Righthander Kevin Slowey was hit hard early, then the Twins bullpen failed to keep the score tied late. The Twins have lost the first game of a series in five of their past six series, and they fell to 1-6 on Mondays.
The Twins loss enabled Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay to improve to 5-0 since returning from the disabled list in May. Toronto hit three homers off Twins pitching as they won their fourth consecutive game.
