Jun. 28--Scuba divers with decompression sickness may need to travel to Miami or Melbourne for care after St. Mary's Medical Center stops offering emergency hyperbaric oxygen services at the end of the week.
The West Palm Beach hospital will continue to treat accident victims and others with carbon monoxide and cyanide poisoning during business hours Monday through Friday.
Hospital officials said Wednesday there is not enough patient demand for round-the-clock service. For the past several years, fewer than 50 people annually have been treated for emergencies. The switch will allow the hospital to "free up resources" for ...
