NEW YORK -- Abbott Diabetes Care has debuted its FreeStyle Lite blood glucose monitoring system for people with the disease.
The unit's "no coding" feature is said to provide added convenience for patients through an automatic calibration feature that eliminates the manual coding step many blood glucose meters require before beginning a new vial of test strips.
FreeStyle Lite reportedly provides results in an average of five seconds and offers virtually pain-free testing due to the small (0.3 microliter) blood sample required, an amount that Abbott notes is about the size of a pinhead.
