Jun. 28--San Jose officials have failed to hold the non-profit that manages its convention center accountable for not hitting its financial targets, charged a Santa Clara County civil grand jury report released Wednesday.
The report said Team San Jose's contract should not be renewed when it expires in 2009 because the group's broken promises are costing taxpayers millions of dollars a year in subsidies.
The report also found the city unduly favored Team San Jose, the brainchild of tourism executive Dan Fenton, in 2003 when awarding the contract to manage the convention center and five theaters.
