As the Mt. Diablo school board ponders whether to ask voters to approve a parcel tax, a group of Walnut Creek parents is forging ahead and forming a campaign committee in support of such a ballot measure.
The board has not settled on a cost, picked an election date or decided any other details. However, two of its five members said they want a November parcel tax election and favor an annual $500 per parcel tax to raise money for schools.
Parents said a fall election means any district parcel tax measure, which would require a two-thirds majority to win, would need a strong campaign.
