Jun. 30--BOSTON -- The Blue Jays and Yankees appear incapable of doing it. So the only possibility of the American League East turning into an exciting pennant race would be for Red Sox players to become injured in disabling doses.
The Red Sox therefore do not need 5-foot-9 second baseman Dustin Pedroia slamming into 6-foot-4 closer Jonathan Papelbon on purpose.
