Jun. 30--First it was cookie-cutter houses, and now cookie-cutter shopping centers are popping up all over the newer parts of the East Valley.
Shopping centers built and planned for several East Valley locations are housing many of the same chain stores and look similar, something retail experts say is a national trend but more pronounced in the growing East Valley.
Some local shoppers, especially those in newly developed areas, are just relieved to see stores closer to home.
"They are kind of cookie-cutter, but at least we're getting more out here," Chandler resident David Marsh said. "The stores are the same, ...
