Jul. 1--Phillies rookie Kyle Kendrick was called up a couple weeks ago to make a handful of starts in place of the injured Freddy Garcia.
Now the Phillies have a bigger chore for him. They need him to be a streak stopper when he pitches today in the final game of a four-game series against the Mets.
On Saturday at Citizens Bank Park, the Mets beat the Phillies 8-3, making it their third loss in two days and putting them six games behind New York in the National League East Division.
