Jul. 2--The $2.9 million renovation and expansion of the Vinton War Memorial isn't going as planned.
It's not that inclement weather has pushed back the timetable or that rising material costs have forced the town to open up its wallet.
In fact, it's an unexpected lack of problems that has the project on pace to open early.
"Construction is going great. We're ahead of schedule and on budget," said Vinton Mayor Brad Grose.
Project manager Laura Riley said that the renovation is two to three weeks ahead of schedule thanks in large part to the warm weather in January and the work of Avis Construction. Riley ...
