A new audit by the Pentagon's Office of the Inspector General (IG) calls on the Air Force to ensure that there are enough internal procedures in place to gauge the reasonableness of the contract proposals it receives during the non- competitive portion of its KC-X tanker replacement program.

Further, the Department of Defense's independent auditor found that the Pentagon's chief information officer needs to coordinate better with the Office of the Director of Administration and Management so that the Air Force has clear guidance on the information-assurance requirements for the new tanker.
