Jun. 30--LAKELAND, Fla. -- Semperian Inc. will close its Lakeland office at the end of July, resulting in layoffs of 79 employees, according to company officials.
A spokesman said the office is being closed as part of a consolidation by Semperian's parent company, General Motors Acceptance Corp. (GMAC), which is the financial services arm of the Detroit-based automaker.
"For Semperian to remain competitive we're going to continually examine how we operate," said GMAC spokesman Mike Stoller. "We certainly appreciate the hard work of the employees in that office and we're doing our best to make a difficult situation better." ...
