Jul. 4--Recent downpours have further eroded a flood-control dam in northwest Collin County.
Torrential rains have deepened the water it impounds and heightened concerns of nearby residents.
A study four years ago projected that if the earthen structure were crested or broken, portions of State Highway 289, a railroad and the city of Celina's sewage-treatment plant would be inundated.
An evaluation Monday by the same consultant, the engineering firm Wilson & Co., concluded that "the integrity of the dam ... does not appear to have been compromised" by the recent rains.
