NASHVILLE -- Nashville is hot. The nation's country music capital, situated on the Cumberland River, is drawing major corporations with its pro-business climate and luring potential residents--including many retirees--with its competitive housing market, diversified job base and absence of a state income tax. Last year, in fact, Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine ranked Nashville at the top of its "50 Smart Places to Live" based on livability and affordability.
