Jul. 4--LEXINGTON -- As the sun rose over the Shenandoah Valley Tuesday morning, a dozen brightly colored hot air balloons landed with 26 passengers who had ear-to-ear smiles.
Suzanne Green and her daughter, Kirby, were among them. The Hot Springs residents had awoken at 3:45 a.m. to make sure they didn't miss this "once in a lifetime chance."
"The view was incredible," Suzanne Green said. "Nothing looks the same from that high up."
Powered by controlled blasts from roaring propane burners, the balloons soared as high as 2,500 feet above the valley.
