RICHMOND, Va., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Circuit City Stores, Inc., (NYSE: CC) today announced that Walter E. Bruckart is retiring from the position of executive vice president, merchandising, effective March 1. W. Alan McCollough, who was named senior vice president, merchandising, in June 1994, will assume responsibility for the company's merchandising operations.

Bruckart joined Circuit City in 1968 as part of the company's West Coast merchandising team. In 1978, he moved to the corporate office in Richmond, Va., as vice president of merchandising.
