IN the dying light of a chill evening at Wimbledon last week, amiddle-aged man in blue baseball cap, jeans and tennis shoes sat beside anoutdoor gas heater on the players' terrace. He enjoyed an unimpaired bird's eyeview of Court No 2, where Jamie Murray was playing a first-round doubles matchwith his partner, Eric Butorac, a match on the Wimbledon undercard being playedat an hour that is predominantly the preserve of tennis junkies and closefamily of the players.
The Murrays were certainly represented in force in the stands. But the man onthe terrace was not a casual spectator either.
