Jul. 5--LAKE TEXOMA -- Lake Texoma may not top its spillway, after all, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers official said this morning.
"It may end up being a non-story," said Ross Adkins, the corps' Oklahoma spokesman.
Lake officials began releasing water downstream Wednesday in hopes of preventing massive downstream flooding, Adkins said.
Water has gone over the spillway twice before -- in 1957 and 1990 -- since Lake Texoma opened in the 1940s.
Dozens of people gathered at the spillway Wednesday to catch a glimpse of the third such event.
