Jul. 5--AFAX HAD JUST arrived in the Reading Eagle newsroom advising that District Attorney Mark C. Baldwin was giving $1 million that Reading Police seized from a drug dealer in 2004 to the Berks County Community Foundation.
It was the afternoon of Thursday, June 7.
Only a day earlier, Baldwin had assured me he would split the money between his office and four other law enforcement agencies present when the money was seized.
The $1 million had been a bone of contention between the police and Baldwin's office for the three years since it was seized.
