Joyce is home.
The tale of the wayward African tortoise ended happily Thursday when Tonya Murray got a call saying her pet had been found. Joyce had walked pretty far, for a tortoise, to White Marsh Road from the Washington Ditch in the Great Dismal Swamp, where Murray had been searching for her since last week.
"Oh, that is her! That is so her!" Murray exclaimed when she was reunited with the 30-pound tortoise.
Joyce dug her way out of Murray's back yard on Dock Landing Road in Chesapeake last week. A passing motorist, not realizing she was a pet and thinking she might get killed in ...
