IT WAS a shame that publication of Sergeant Cecil: The Impossible Dream coincided with the muchloved stayer's worst race in ages when he finished last in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, and the chestnut's many fans will just have to hope that he simply had a bad day at the office.
Indeed, trainer Rod Millman, who reports the old horse in good order, agrees. "He just ran a flat race," he says. "It's not the first time - he was in zombie mode!"
