HUDSON - The School Committee has hired a longtime Maine educator as the next school superintendent.
The committee unanimously selected Nina Schlikin, superintendent for three towns in Maine, over Ashland Superintendent Richard J. Hoffman to succeed Sheldon H. Berman, who resigned to lead the school district in Jefferson County, Ky. Mr. Berman had been superintendent for 14 years.
School Committee Chairman Thomas Green said the committee was impressed with both candidates, but decided at a short meeting Saturday to hire Ms. Schlikin.
