The private agency that oversees adoptions, foster care and other child-welfare services in Lake and four neighboring counties won a new three-year contract from the Department of Children & Families.
The extended pact is further evidence of improvement at Kids Central Inc., which nearly lost the contract two years ago because of various problems, including a poor adoption record.
"There's a lot of great things going on in their organization now," said William D'Aiuto, acting DCF administrator in the newly named 5th Circuit, which also includes Sumter, Marion, Hernando and Citrus counties.
