THOUSANDS of Irish people who swear by the herbal remedy echinacea to boost their immune system throughout the year vindicated.
A studyhas shown it can halve the risk of catching a common cold.
They found it decreased the odds of developing a cold by 58pc and the duration of colds by a day-and-a-half.
The results published in medical journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases, conflict with other studies that show no beneficial effect.
