Two months into the Republican takeover of Congress, newspapers across the country have used the phrase "tidal wave" at least 36 times to describe the force with which the Republicans are washing over Capitol Hill. The conservative lawmakers are a virtual "tsunami" (seven mentions), and the speed with which they're passing legislation constitutes a "revolution" (663 mentions, including five in U.S. News). But after just one vote last week, headline writers had to search for new cliches.
