Jul. 9--SAN FRANCISCO -- Beneath the thick layers of dirt, scars and bruises is an All-Star outfielder.
That distinction goes to former White Sox center fielder and fan favorite Aaron Rowand, whose first selection to the major-league All-Star Game finally reflects his talent as well as his fearless style.
"I've been known as a blue-collar guy," Rowand said Thursday during a phone interview. "But I think I've done well enough offensively in my career that I bring more than defense. I like to be known more than just for my defense and a guy who plays hard."
