Jul. 10--PANAMA CITY -- Gov. Charlie Crist selected a financial manager with no background in property appraisals and no apparent political connections to be Bay County's new property appraiser.
Zane Spitzer, 70, of Lynn Haven, will serve as property appraiser until January 2009, Crist announced Monday afternoon. If he wants to keep the job past then, Spitzer, a registered Republican, will have to be successful during the 2008 fall elections.
The Bay County's property appraiser makes about $120,000 a year.
Spitzer said Monday he did not know when he would start. Spitzer said he needs to engineer his retirement ...
