CHINA -- Crude imports in May totaled 3.07 million b/d, up 4.6% year-on-year. Angola and Iran were the top two suppliers, pushing Saudi Arabia into the third spot. Mideast imports made up 40% of total volumes, while imports from Africa totaled over 38%. Latin American imports comprised close to 6%, while those from the Asia-Pacific region made up 8%. Significant volume increases came from Sudan, the UAE and Kazakhstan. Gabon imports also jumped to reach 64,500 b/d (PIW Jun.4,p6).
