In the age of super-sized meals and out-of-control portions, Americans continuously search for easy, quick fad diets to shed those excess pounds. The problem is, when the diet is over, the weight usually comes back.
One of the most popular waistline-shrinking philosophies in recent years has been one that promotes a diet low in carbohydrates and high in protein, such as the Atkins and South Beach diets.
