Jul. 11--NEWPORT NEWS -- Ready or not red light cameras are coming to town.
Drivers in Newport News will see the new traffic light monitoring systems, which will catch red-light runners on film, as early as the beginning of next year at the intersections Jefferson Avenue and Mercury Boulevard, Jefferson Avenue and Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue and Fort Eustis Boulevard.
City engineers briefed City Council members Tuesday afternoon about the selected intersections, which the Virginia Department of Transportation still has to approve.
