WORCESTER - The East Side Babe Ruth All-Stars used pitching and base running to stave off elimination last night, as the 13-year-olds defeated West Side, 3-1, in the Jack Reidy Memorial Tournament at Schwartz Field.
With both teams now listing one loss on their records, they will reconvene at the same location at 5 p.m. today to play a winner-take-all championship game.
West Side missed a good opportunity to finish the job yesterday. Steve Flynn was on his game, tossing seven innings of four-hit ball, but the offense and defense behind him did not play up to West Side's usual standards. Two unearned runs proved to be the ...
