The Capricorn Coast is set to lure more sailors to the Queensland tropics following the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron's (RQYS) launch of a Great Keppel Island Yacht Race.
The inaugural race will sail from Manly (Brisbane) on Friday, August 3 racing the sub-tropical course to the sandy beaches of Great Keppel Island. The race is the brainchild of RQYS Rear Commodore and Meridien Managing Director Russell McCart and is set to become a major event in Australia's racing calendar.
Event organiser Denis Thompson said the race was perfect for those heading north or for those who just enjoyed a race followed by a cold drink on a tropical sandy beach.
