Article: New yacht race in the tropics.(Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron's)

The Capricorn Coast is set to lure more sailors to the Queensland tropics following the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron's (RQYS) launch of a Great Keppel Island Yacht Race.

The inaugural race will sail from Manly (Brisbane) on Friday, August 3 racing the sub-tropical course to the sandy beaches of Great Keppel Island. The race is the brainchild of RQYS Rear Commodore and Meridien Managing Director Russell McCart and is set to become a major event in Australia's racing calendar.

Event organiser Denis Thompson said the race was perfect for those heading north or for those who just enjoyed a race followed by a cold drink on a tropical sandy beach.
