The recent decision by oil major BP to take back control of ships' officers in its growing fleet from Dorchester Atlantic Marine, must have come as a shock to the ship managment sector. According to BP Shipping, the main reason for the move is rapid fleet growth and an ability to ensure enough competent key personnel to meet requirements.
