Jul. 12--The Federal Communications Commission is eyeing a proposed merger between North Carolina-based Dialog Telecom and Amarillo-based AMA TechTel.

Under the merger, Dialog Telecom would acquire AMA TechTel, which provides local and long distance telephone service, wireless high-speed Internet and other data services to about 12,000 Texas Panhandle customers.

Dialog Telecom offers data and telecommunications services in Kentucky, Mississippi and North Carolina. AMA TechTel would continue serving customers under the same name, same rates, terms and conditions.
