Jul. 12--A 40-year-old man admitted committing three Bay Area bank robberies over nine days in February 2006 and was handed a 14-year sentence, Department of Justice officials said.
Timothy Phillips pleaded guilty Wednesday to twice robbing the Citibank at 590 Market St. in San Francisco and once hitting the Washington Mutual Bank on West Santa Clara in downtown San Jose.
Phillips agreed to pay $6,920 in restitution to the two banks for his nine-day spree, Department of Justice spokeswoman Natalya LaBauve said.
