Jul. 13--Police say Owensboro residents are receiving several mail scams asking them to participate in an illegal plan to claim the money of deceased Americans without beneficiaries.
One letter claims to come from a chartered management accountant and external auditor for the Bank of Ireland. The letter tell the recipient that they've noticed dormant investment accounts that haven't been used and that investigation has shown that the investor died several years ago.
The letter says that since the receipient shares the same last name as the deceased investor, he or she should contact the Bank of Ireland and claim to be the last surviving relative. With ...
