Article: AMTRAK TO MAINTAIN SERVICE BETWEEN DETROIT AND PONTIAC

CHICAGO, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Amtrak has determined that it cannot achieve the savings it anticipated from its proposed service adjustments to the Detroit-Pontiac line and has decided to continue operating rail passenger service between the two cities.

Amtrak had announced last December that it would eliminate service along this segment of the Pontiac-Detroit-Chicago route effective April 2 as part of the corporation's plan to bridge a projected budget gap in Fiscal Year 1995.
