Jul. 14--Have you ever tasted dried beluga whale? Neither have I, but I've heard from Matt Sheehy, aka my mail carrier, it has the texture of beef jerky without much flavor. He recommends enjoying it with a condiment -- Tabasco or soy sauce, perhaps.
Sheehy, 28, had his first taste of whale last month while on a four-week jaunt to a place in western Alaska accessible only by bush plane, where "crazy twisting rivers" wind through wide-open fields, where even the most determined of cell phones can't find a signal.
