Jul. 15--Year in, year out, there's one thing that's easy for fans to do: underrate the Minnesota Twins.

We do it here all the time, most recently in evaluating the relative strength of major-league teams. The Tribune's weekly power rankings at the All-Star break listed Detroit first, Cleveland fifth and Minnesota 10th.

Yet from the break in 2006 until '07's, Minnesota was the strongest team in the American League Central. Its 94-70 record was 3 1/2 games better than Cleveland, four games better than Detroit and a staggering 20 games better than the White Sox.
