This year I decided to reform and not play any April Fool jokes. I figured it was time to pass the title of "April Fool Champ" on to someone else. My brother Ned, maybe. Little did I suspect that I would become the victim of my own good intentions.
April Fool's Day started innocently enough. Ned and I were fixing breakfast. Dad was getting dressed but Mom was still in bed. She had a cold.
I was setting the table when I spotted the trash sitting out. "Ned! It's your turn to take out the trash," I said. "You'd better put on your boots. It rained last night, so there will be a puddle at the bottom of the steps."
