Chinese equities stage heavy losses in thin trade
Shanghai. July 16. INTERFAX-CHINA - Chinese equities staged heavy losses in thin trade on Monday as investors were still anxious over a potential fresh interest hike by finance regulators with the National Bureau of Statistics set to release key June economic figures this Wednesday.
The benchmark Shanghai composite index (SCI) dropped 92.48 points, or 2.36 percent finishing the day at 3,821.92 points. The counterpart Shenzhen composite index fell 3.79 percent ending at 12,331.19 points.
Financials and textiles were the biggest casualties in the four-hour trading streak.
