Weight loss tea ad banned for promoting false effects
Shanghai. July 19. INTERFAX-CHINA - The Beijing Drug Administration announced yesterday that an advertisement for a nutritional supplement manufactured by Beijing Novelty Nutrition Supplements Technology Developing Co. Ltd. has been banned after the company violated Chinese advertising laws.
An advertisement for the company's Meinuo weight loss tea, published in local newspapers in Jiangsu and Sichuan in May this year, was found to have exaggerated the virtues of the tea with deliberate intent to mislead and cheat consumers.
