Former Smith Barney Inc. managing director Michael R. Lissack testified before a federal grand jury in Boston earlier this week regarding the firm's dealings in Massachusetts, sources familiar with the proceedings said.
The U.S. attorney's office there is investigating the relationship between Merrill Lynch & Co., Lazard Freres & Co., and one of Lazard's former Boston-based employees, Mark S. Ferber. It is presenting its case before the grand jury, which is meeting each week, and will decide whether or not civil or criminal charges should be leveled against any party in the investigation.
