His license may list him as 55 years old, but John Grote still scales rock faces like Spider-Man and rappels down them with the agility of a paratrooper.
And he has no intention of stopping any time soon.
While he's at it, he'll probably create another generation of rock climbing addicts. When he's not doing recreational climbing, the technical climbing chair for the Appalachian Mountain Club teaches the sport.
But Grote is no adrenaline junky. He's not looking to defy death. He just enjoys living it - living it deliberately you might say. ...
