Ratskeller is tunnelled beneath the New Town hall and the Glockenspiel on Marienplatz.
The warren of eating halls - some large seating 100 or 200 people, others intimate seating two or six - is very cosy indeed.
Altogether, it can take about 2 000 people (but one would never know), it's that well designed. On the way to the cloakroom (which is, for your information, a sign that says OO), I thought I bumped into a hobbit and wasn't at all surprised, as it all seemed very hobbit-like. But, in fact, she was just a short, stocky woman with a moustache.
